Hilltop Boilers Signs NIL Partnership with Maddie Niles

December 21, 2022
BENTON, Maine – Maddie Niles from the Lawrence High School field hockey team announced today she has signed a name, image and likeness (NIL) partnership with Hilltop Boilers, a Maine maple producer in Newfield. Niles is a former Miss Mini Maine Maple winner and model. She will receive compensation for the use of her name, image and likeness, including social media posts and promotional appearances for Hilltop Boilers. The partnership is the first of its kind for a Maine business and a Maine high school athlete.
Niles, 16, recently signed with Pliable Marketing in Augusta for athlete branding and NIL representation as she pursues her career in field hockey, modeling and interior design.

“I love Maine maple syrup and baking, so when I found out about this opportunity, it was something I really wanted to do. I think it’s a great opportunity to support a local Maine business that is also supporting me in the future of my career, so it’s a win-win,” said Maddie Niles, sophomore field hockey player at Lawrence High School.

Hilltop Boilers, based in Newfield, is owned by Michael and Jen Bryant and is one of the top maple syrup producers in the state. The company has produced award-winning maple syrup and products for more than 30 years.

“As an award-winning athlete and title as a former Miss Mini Maple we are proud to support Maddie as she continues to build her career as an elite field hockey player and model. She shares our same company values; to work hard and always strive to be the best. We are thrilled to be able to create this NIL partnership and grow together,” said Michael Bryant, owner of Hilltop Boilers.

The NIL partnership between Maddie Niles and Hilltop Boilers is the first of its kind in Maine for a high school athlete. Niles recently completed her sophomore season with the Lawrence Bulldogs field hockey team that won the Class B state championship. Niles scored a school-record 38 goals, including the game-winning goal in the state championship and was named First Team KVAC and First Team All-State.

As part of the partnership, Niles will make a series of social media posts about her passion for maple syrup, including products and recipes. She will also be compensated for using her name, image and likeness for appearances, as well as video content. Niles and Hilltop Boilers will create branded content together on Facebook and Instagram.

“This is a historic day for athletes in Maine. As more athletes at the high school, college and pro level build their athlete brand, more Maine athletes will see they can do the same thing, just like Maddie. Being from a small town in Maine, a name, image and likeness opportunity like this is going to help Maddie get her name out there. This meaningful partnership aligns well with her career goals, including increasing the popularity of field hockey to grow the game; something she is really passionate about. I am really proud of Maddie for her courage to go after her dreams and seize the opportunity to get ahead of her competition,” said Greg Glynn, founder & CEO of Pliable.

Pliable in Augusta is a marketing, public relations and broadcasting company that specializes in athlete branding. Founded by Greg Glynn in 2021, the company represents high school, college and professional athletes across the country, including six athletes from Maine. The company helps athletes build their athlete brand stemming from the Supreme Court ruling in June 2021 which allows college athletes to profit from their name, image and likeness. Due to the ruling, high school athletes in different states are also benefiting from their name, image and likeness.
