DEXTER- Jadon Richard scored 14 of his game high 18 points in the first half and blocked a shot in the final seconds to secure a 47-44 Foxcroft boys basketball win over Dexter on Thursday night.
The Ponies scored the first eight points of the game. Ethan Doherty made a three pointer to stop the Foxcroft run. Richard scored nine first quarter points to lead the Ponies attack. Foxcroft held a 25-19 halftime advantage, Richard (14) and Caden Crocker (8) combined for 22 points in the half. Both teams struggled from the free throw line in the first half. Foxcroft went 6-14, while Dexter went 4-13.
The Tigers outscored Foxcroft 10-4 in the third quarter to even the score at 29. The Ponies started the fourth quarter like they started the game, by scoring the first eight points. Dexter battled back to take a 44-43 lead. Foxcroft made big plays on offense and defense down the stretch to grab the win.
Will Kusnierz led Dexter with 17 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Kayden Kimball had nine points and four rebounds. Doherty and Bryce Connor added seven points each. Dexter (7-1) will play at Searsport on Tuesday, January 10th.
Richard added six rebounds, six steals, and two assists to his point total to lead the Ponies. Crocker added 12 points, five assists, and four rebounds. Fernando Oliveira came off the bench to get seven points and eight rebounds. Foxcroft (5-2) will host John Bapst on January 11th.
