Orono boys advance behind the play of Walston, Schaff

BANGOR- Pierce Walston scored a game high 17 points, and Noah Schaff had a double double on Friday evening in leading the Orono Red Riots to a 50-40 Class B Boys quarterfinal win over the Caribou Vikings at the Cross Insurance Center.

Orono would control this game mostly all evening holding a 19-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, and opened it up to a 32-10 lead at the half. Caribou, after trailing by 24 in the third quarter, would close within eight points in the fourth but the Red Riots made just enough plays down the stretch to hold on for the 10 point victory. Walston added seven rebounds and five assists to his point total, while Schaff had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Caribou was led by Tristen Robbins who had 16 points and three rebounds, Henry Hebert would also add nine points of his own on three 3-pointers. #3 Orono (16-3) advances to face Presque Isle in a semifinal on Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. #6 Caribou ends their season at 12-8.
