Mazie Peach leads Dexter to quarterfinal win over Fort Kent

BANGOR— The Dexter Lady Tigers outscored Fort Kent 14-2 in the third quarter and rolled to a 47-27 win in a Maine Principals’ Association Class C girls basketball quarterfinal game played on Tuesday evening at the Cross Insurance Center.

Dexter jumped out to a 10-4 lead, before Lilly Wertgen nailed a three-pointer to get Fort Kent within 10-7 heading into the second quarter. The Lady Tigers took a 20-15 lead into halftime when Abi Corson beat the second quarter buzzer with a three-pointer.

Dexter took over in the third quarter led by Mazie Peach who finished with six points in the period. The Lady Tigers outscored Fort Kent 14-2 in the quarter and held a 34-17 advantage heading into the final eight points. Cally Gudroe went 4-4 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.

Lily Oliver led the Lady Warriors with six points, five steals, and four rebounds. Wertgen also had six points. Fort Kent finishes the season with a record of 11-9.

Peach led the Lady Tigers with 16 points, 18 rebounds, and two blocks. Gudroe added 11 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Hannah Dean chipped in with eight points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Abi Corson had seven points, five steals, and three rebounds. Dexter (18-1) will play Central in a semifinal game on Friday afternoon at 3:30.
