BANGOR- The Ellsworth Lady Eagles outscored Caribou 18-9 in the second quarter and never looked back in a 71-51 Class B semifinal win on Wednesday morning at the Cross Insurance Center.
Grace Jaffray put up 10 points in the first half for the Lady Eagles despite limited minutes due to foul trouble. The offensive outburst continued in the third quarter for Ellsworth. Elizabeth Boles and Jaffray each scored six points in the quarter as they outscored Caribou 21-16. Jaffray put in eight points in the final quarter, including going 6-8 from the free throw line.
Madelynn Deprey led the Lady Vikings with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals. Madelynn Morrow added 11 points. Caribou finishes the season with a record of 16-4.
Jaffray led the Lady Eagles with 24 points and eight rebounds. Boles added 18 points and four rebounds. Abby Radel chipped in with 14 points, three assists, and three steals. Ellsworth will play Old Town in the regional final on Saturday afternoon at 2 PM. Before the 2022/2023 tournament, Ellsworth hadn’t won a tournament game since 1992.
