Caden Crocker and Calvin Landry lead Foxcroft baseball to comeback win over Dexter

DEXTER- Caden Crocker had four hits and five RBI to lead Foxcroft to a come from behind 10-5 win over Dexter in a high school baseball game played on Friday afternoon.

The Ponies had runners on second and third in the top of the first inning after Crocker singled and Lucas Sands walked. Payson Reinhardt got out of the jam by striking out Calvin Landry and retiring Donnie Poole on a groundout.

The Tigers got the scoring started when Will Spratt led off the bottom of the second inning with a single. Spratt stole second base, and advanced to third base on a wild pitch. Zak Adams put down a bunt that scored Spratt.

Dexter exploded in the third inning when seven straight batters reached base with four of them scoring as the Tigers took a 5-0 lead.

The Ponies started to cut into the deficit at 5-2 in the fourth inning when Crocker hit a single that scored two runs.

Landry pitched 4.2 innings of scoreless relief to keep the Ponies within striking distance. Landry worked around one hit in three straight innings. Foxcroft added one run in the fifth inning when Sands started things with a single and scored on a Donnie Poole sacrifice fly. The Ponies cut into the lead again in the sixth inning when Griffin Caruso started the inning with a single, advanced to second on a Silas Topoloski bunt, and to third on a Jack Day groundout. Caruso scored on a Crocker hit.

Landry got three groundouts in the bottom of the sixth inning to hold the score at 5-4. The Ponies exploded for six runs in the top of the seventh inning. Sands, Landry, and Poole each got base hits to knock Reinhardt out of the game. The Ponies would tie the game on the hit by Poole.

Foxcroft ties it up in 7th inning

 

The go ahead run would come in when Poole scored on a wild pitch. Crocker would contribute a double that scored two runs.

Landry retired the side in order in the seventh inning to help the Ponies grab their first win of the season.

Spratt led the Tigers offense with three hits and two runs scored. Dexter (1-3) will next play at Foxcroft (1-1), currently scheduled for Monday. Sands had two hits and two runs scored for the Ponies. Crocker added two stolen bases to his big offensive day.
