September 16, 2023

Elijah Garnett had 126 yards rushing with two touchdowns, and Ja’Quan Myles had 145 yards receiving and a score in leading the Husson University Eagles to a 31-13 non-conference football win over the Alfred State College Pioneers at Pioneer Stadium in Alfred Station, New York Saturday afternoon.

Husson (2-1) took the lead and would never relinquish it when Garnett scored on a three-yard run almost six minutes in. Alfred State College (1-2) would answer six minutes later with a two-yard touchdown run by Jake Palmer, but had the extra point blocked by Tyrek Mann. Myles found his way past the Pioneers defense less than a minute after the Palmer score, catching a 64-yard TD pass from Nic Visser. Garnett added a short scoring run early in the second, as the guests led 19-6 at the halftime break. Josh Graham got ASC within 19-13 on a two-yard touchdown run with 7:47 left in the third quarter, but the Eagles put it away in the fourth on a Visser five-yard scamper into the endzone and a short TD run by Jed Lober to finish the scoring.

Visser went 15-23 passing for 228 yards and a touchdown in the win, and also had the rushing score in the fourth quarter. Garnett had his two touchdowns and 126 yards on a total of 24 carries, while Myles caught six passes for his big day through the air with 145 yards and a touchdown.
