Foxcroft blanks Madison, roaring to 4-0 start

DOVER-FOXCROFT-  The defending state champion Foxcroft Academy Ponies got touchdowns from seven different players Friday night, rolling to 68-0 Class D North football victory over Madison/Carrabec/Valley at Oakes Field.

Foxcroft (4-0) didn’t take long to get the scoring started, as Madison running back Jacob Hilenski fumbled at his own 16 on the first possession of the game and the Ponies recovered. Gage Beaudry took a hand off on their first offensive snap and scored on a 16-yard run for all the offense the hosts needed. Silas Topolski caught a 24-yard TD pass from quarterback Wyatt Rayfield, Hunter McSorley scored on a 2-yard run, and Kemsley Marsters had the final two touchdowns of the half on a 16-yard run and a 57-yard punt return as it was 35-0 at the halftime break. Finn Holmes and Jacob Johnson both scored on runs in the second half, while Beaudry and Landon Smith had a pair of touchdowns each in the final 24 minutes to cap off the scoring.

Rayfield was 9-9 passing in the Foxcroft win for 114 yards and a touchdown. Beaudry had eight rush attempts for 82 yards and three touchdowns. The senior tailback now has 11 TD’s over the course of the first four games. Topolski caught four passes for 59 yards and a score, with Jadon Richard adding in three catches for 46 yards. Logan Walton had five total tackles to lead the defense. The Ponies have outscored their opponents 220-6 so far, and their defensive unit hasn’t allowed a touchdown. Madison, who drops to 0-4, only could muster three first downs on the night as Davyn Nichols led their offensive output with 35 yards on four carries. Both teams are back in action next Friday night as the Bulldogs will visit Belfast, and Foxcroft travels to Medomak to battle the Class C Panthers.
