Lady Howlers roll on Homecoming day

September 23, 2023
At Howland Saturday, Penobscot Valley scored nine first half goals en route to a 12-0 homecoming win over Calais.
Savannah Durost got the scoring started seven minutes in, as she received a long direct kick from Emma Potter and finished her shot past the keeper. Rylee Moulton knocked in a beautiful pass from Lauren Veino across the six yard line for the second goal just 15 seconds later. Moulton struck again three minutes later, this time off a pass from Brooke Champion. Lila Cummings scored two unassisted goals in under a minute, with an Ellie Austin goal in between which was assisted by Moulton.  Senior Ashlyn St. Cyr scored unassisted, and the Lady Howlers had two freshmen Abby Farley and Baileigh Leet net their first varsity goals. The tally by Farley was set up by Harlee Glidden, and the Leet goal was assisted by Tiana Grant.
In the second half, St. Cyr scored a pair of goals in the first 11 minutes, one assisted by Moulton and the other by Potter to complete the hat trick. Moulton also recorded a hat trick when she finished off a Veino cross.
Penobscot Valley improved to 6-0 on the year and will host George Stevens Academy on Wednesday. Brooklynn Raymond and Abby Farley combined for 3 saves on 3 shots.
