Maine women’s hockey rolls to a sweep at Stonehill College

The University of Maine women’s ice hockey team bounced back after being swept in their season opening series at #8 Quinnipiac last weekend, by sweeping past Stonehill College 7-0 and 7-1 in non-conference action in Bridgewater, Massachusetts on Friday and Saturday.

Ida Kuoppala had a goal and two assists Friday, and a hat trick with another helper on Saturday. Ann-Fredrique Guay also had a pair of goals in each game for Maine in their first two wins of the season. Jorden Mattison had 23 saves in net for the shutout in game one, while Julia Bachetti made 14 stops to complete the sweep in the second game. Grace Parker had the lone goal on the weekend for the 0-4 Skyhawks. The Black Bears (2-2) open their home schedule on Friday when they host UNH in a Hockey East matchup at 2 p.m.
