The Boston Celtics starting five put up 92 points on Wednesday night all scoring in double figures, helping their team get off to the best start to a regular season since the 2009-10 campaign with a 155-104 romp of the Indiana Pacers at TD Garden.
It was back and forth early on, before Boston went on a 14-0 run to take control and it was never in doubt after that. Derrick White, Jayson Tatum, and Jrue Holiday made consecutive three-pointers on three straight possessions during that spurt as the Celtics improve to 4-0. They put up 75 or more first half points in back to back games for the first time since the 1950-51 season. The 4-0 record is the best start since that 2009-10 season when the club won their first six.
Tatum led the way with 30 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists. White had 18 points, Sam Houser came off the bench to score 17 (5-6 three-pointers), Brown 16, Holiday and Payton Pritchard 15 a piece, Kristaps Porzingis contributed 13, and Dalano Banton also came off the bench to chip in 11 points. The last time Boston scored 150 or more points in a game was November 1992, and this is only the 11th time in franchise history they’ve reached that number. T.J. McConnell led Indiana (2-2) in the loss with 18 points. The Celtics shot 20-35 (57.1%) from three-point range, while the Pacers shot it bad from distance for a second consecutive game going just 5-37 (13.5%). Boston is back in action on Saturday at 8 p.m. when they head out on the road to Brooklyn to battle the Nets.
