Woodland comes back from early deficit to knock off previously undefeated Machias

The Woodland Lady Dragons put four players in double figures to take down previously undefeated Machias 59-46 on Friday night at Machias High School.

The Lady Bulldogs started the game on a 16-2 run and held a 25-13 advantage after the first quarter. Woodland responded by outscoring Machias 19-3 in the second quarter to take a 32-28 lead heading into halftime.

Karleigh Smith led the way for the Lady Dragons with 16 points (7-9 FT), Chloe Farrah recorded 13 points, four rebounds, and four steals. Mishun Cornelius had a monster game with 11 points, 16 rebounds, and four blocks. Brooke Smith added 10 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Woodland (6-4) will host Narraguagus on Wednesday night.

Kristin Grant scored a game high 18 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Maleah Rhodes added 10 points, while Laylah Wright had 8 points and 14 rebounds. Machias (7-1) will host Deer Isle-Stonington on Monday.
