Valley sweeps PCHS in basketball doubleheader

GUILFORD- The Valley Cavaliers came to Guilford with a pair of top seeded teams. They left town with a 68-39 girls basketball win over PCHS. The boys team followed that with a 67-47 win over the Pirates.

In the girls contest, 8th grader Liana Hartwell scored 10 first quarter points as the Lady Cavaliers jumped out to a 21-4 lead. Madeline Hill put in 13 of her game high 31 points in the second quarter as Valley held a 43-14 halftime lead. Hill went 13-14 from the free throw line. Hartwell filled up the stat sheet with 18 points, 10 rebounds, nine steals, and three assists. Kirsten Bigelow also finished in double figures with 14 points. Valley (11-0) will host Forest Hills on Tuesday. Pregame coverage on Eastern Maine Sports Media will start at 4:45 PM.

Valley girls basketball postgame - 1/13/2024

Brooke Hunt finished with a team high 15 points (2 three-pointers) for the Lady Pirates. Reese Starbird had 11 points and eight rebounds, while Ava Goulette added 10 points, nine rebounds, and eight blocks. PCHS (2-6) will play at Bucksport on Wednesday night.

In the boys game, the Cavaliers out rebounded PCHS 43-19. After a back and forth first quarter, Valley outscored the Pirates 25-11 in the second quarter. Harry Louis led the way with 25 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists. Fisher Tewksbury had 24 points and nine rebounds. Jared Ricker also recorded 12 points and 16 rebounds. Valley (7-3) will host Forest Hills on Tuesday, pregame coverage on Eastern Maine Sports Media will start at 6:15 PM.

Valley boys basketball postgame - 1/13/2024

Brady Gaw scored a team high  21 points (2 three-pointers) for the Pirates. He also had four steals and two blocks. Scott Chadbourne had 16 points, including 4 three-pointers. PCHS (4-4) is scheduled to play at Stearns on Tuesday.
