BINGHAM- Fisher Tewksbury scored a game high 36 points to power the Valley Cavaliers to a 71-42 win over Piscataquis Community High School (PCHS) on Friday night.
The game went back and fourth for the first 12 minutes. The game had six lead changes in the first quarter, and the Pirates held a 22-20 lead midway through the second quarter. Valley went on a 14-2 run that extended into early in the second half to take a 34-24 lead. Noah Kain made a three pointer for the Pirates to cut the deficit to 34-27. After a pair of baskets by Tewksbury, Brady Gaw made a hoop for the Pirates to cut the deficit to 38-29. That is the last time the Cavaliers lead would be in single digits. Valley went on a 10-0 run and would pull away for the win.
Valley out-rebounded PCHS 41-11. Tewksbury led the way with nine rebounds to go along with his game high point total. He scored the first nine points for the Cavaliers in the game, and also the first eight for Valley in the second half.
Harry Louis filled up the stat sheet with eight points, 12 assists, eight rebounds, and five steals. Jared Ricker had eight points and seven rebounds, Caleb Judd put in eight points, while Ryan West pulled down 12 rebounds. Valley (11-3) will play at Rangeley on Tuesday.
Scott Chadbourne and Gaw had 11 points each to lead the Pirates. Gaw also had five assists. Kain and Chase Lander had nine points a piece, all on three pointers. PCHS (7-6) will host George Stevens on Saturday on Eastern Maine Sports Media starting at 11:45 AM.
