A big second half gives Dexter girls basketball win over Bucksport

DEXTER- The Dexter Lady Tigers outscored Bucksport 31-10 in the second half to overcome a first half deficit and defeat the Lady Bucks 47-27 on Saturday afternoon at Ed Guiski Gymnasium.

The Lady Bucks held an 8-6 lead after the first quarter behind six points from Jetta Shook. Bucksport held a one point lead (17-16) at the half thanks to nine combined points in the second quarter from Sam Cyr (5) and Shook (4).

Dexter turned it on in the third quarter as Mazie Peach had eight points in the period. The Lady Tigers had four different scorers in the third, and six players scored in the final quarter.

Shook led the Lady Bucks with 10 points (all in first half) and nine rebounds. Mercedes Taungatua had six points and seven rebounds. Sam Cyr also had six points, while Kaitlynn Flannery chipped in with five points. Bucksport (10-7) will play their regular season finale on Monday at Searsport.

Peach led the Lady Tigers with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Cally Gudroe had 10 points, six rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Desiree Adams added six points, two assists, and two steals. Abi Corson had five points and five assists. Hannah Dean filled up the stat sheet with four points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Lily Bagley came off the bench and scored four points. Dexter (15-1) will play at Orono on Monday night.

In a pregame ceremony, Dexter Coach Jody Grant was honored. On Wednesday night, Grant got his 300th career win at PCHS. Grant got his 300th career win at PCHS.
