BANGOR- Jalen Reed had 16 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks to lead Bangor Christian to a 40-33 win over Southern Aroostook in a MPA Class D boys semifinal game played on Wednesday night at the Cross Insurance Center.
Reed put in 12 first half points as the Patriots jumped out to a 25-11 halftime advantage. He also made a three pointer to give Bangor Christian their biggest lead (28-11) early in the third quarter.
The two-time defending state champs from Southern Aroostook battled back and went on a 14-0 run and cut the deficit to 28-25 early in the fourth quarter. Jesse Booker made 1-2 from the free throw line to stop the Warriors run. Conrad Straubel and Elliot Straubel both made three-pointers to help the Patriots secure the victory.
Dylan Burpee and Trafton Russell had 11 points each to lead the Warriors. Burpee also had six rebounds and three steals. Southern Aroostook finishes the season with a record of 13-7.
Elliot Straubel had nine points on 3 three-pointers. Booker had seven points and eight rebounds, while Rajon Reed had five points and three assists. Bangor Christian (17-3) will play Schenck in the regional final on Saturday at 2:45 PM.
