BANGOR — Hannah Dean scored 18 points to lead the Dexter Lady Tigers to a 42-27 win over Mattanawcook in a MPA Class C semifinal game played Thursday night at the Cross Insurance Center.
Dexter had five different scorers in the first quarter as they held a 11-7 lead after the first eight minutes. The Dexter defense held the Lady Lynx to three points in the second quarter as the Lady Tigers held a 20-10 halftime advantage.
Dean (7) and Mazie Peach (4) combined to score all of the Dexter points in the third quarter. Addison Cyr scored all seven of the Mattanawcook points in the period as the Tigers built the lead to 31-17. Dexter went 7-10 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
Dean had four rebounds to go along with her team-high 18 points, while Cally Gudroe had 10 points (6-6 FT), five rebounds, and three steals. Peach had eight points, nine rebounds, and three blocks. Abi Corson and Desiree Adams each had three assists. Dexter (19-1) will play PVHS in the regional final on Saturday at 6 PM.
Cyr had 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Lynx. Mattanawcook finishes the season with a 16-4 record.
