BANGOR- Kyle Johnson pitched a five inning shutout, allowing just one hit by the Brewer Witches, as the Bangor Rams rolled to a 10-0 Class A baseball win by mercy rule at Mansfield Stadium on Monday night.

With the game scoreless into the bottom of the third inning, Bangor took advantage of two Brewer errors to put five runs on the board to take control. Jack Earl led off with a shallow fly ball down the rightfield line. It looked like either Witches second baseman Blake Littlefield or rightfielder Thomas Pelkey had a beat on making a catch, but neither called it off and it dropped between them for a single. Gavin Glanville-True then reached on an error by Blake Littlefield, who booted a groundball hit right at him. Yates Emerson then walked to load the bases, and Jack Schuck also earned a free pass to force in the only run the Rams ended up needing for a 1-0 lead. Johnson then followed, and also looked like he would also be retired during the at-bat popping one into foul ground that Brewer first baseman Aidan McCue would drop. Johnson made them pay with an RBI single to centerfield. Teddy Stephenson struckout, before Geo Socolow drew another bases loaded walk for an RBI and Scotty Sockabasin grounded a two-run single into left to make it 5-0. None of the runs were charged to Brewer starting pitcher Grady Vanidestine. Meanwhile, Johnson did his work on the mound for Bangor only allowing a total of five baserunners. His team capped off the win as the game was stopped by the run-rule in the last of the fifth inning. Glanville-True had a two-run single, while Emerson and Schuck also drove in a run each to help the Rams improve to 4-1 on the season.

Johnson went 5.0 innings in the win for Bangor allowing no runs on one hit with four walks and four strikeouts. Schuck reached base in all four of his at-bats with three singles, a walk, and two RBI. Emerson reached three times with two singles, a walk, and an RBI. Sockabasin and Glanville-True knocked in two runs a piece. The Rams play at Mt. Ararat on Wednesday. Vanidestine suffered the loss on the hill for Brewer and went 3.0 innings giving up five runs (none earned) with four walks and four strikeouts. Zach Arnold pitched the remainder of the contest. Pelkey had the lone hit for the 2-3 Witches, and they are also back in action Wednesday when they host Brunswick at Heddericg Field.
