Maine softball swept in a league doubleheader at Binghamton

Maine softball was swept in a doubleheader at Binghamton on Sunday afternoon in America East action, falling in a wild game one 12-11 and dropping game two by mercy 11-3 in five innings at Bearcats Sports Complex in Vestal, New York.

Neve Adams hit a three-run homerun and Kaeyln Larkin drilled a grand slam both in the second inning to help give the Black Bears a 7-2 lead in game one, before the Bearcats rallied back for the victory. Maggie Helms had three hits, while Eviana Robles and Kyli Hernandez had two each. Adams and Larkin both had four runs batted in. Robles had a RBI double in the game two defeat, while Keira Inman also doubled in two. Ava Zettlemoyer and Hannah Hipwell both lost in the circle. Maine is now 8-23 and 0-5 in America East, while Binghamton stayed unbeaten in conference play (5-0) and goes to 7-16 overall. The Black Bears will play a non-conference doubleheader at Fairfield on Thursday at 2 p.m., before opening a three game league series at UMBC on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
