The Husson baseball team split their four game North Atlantic Conference opening series in New York against SUNY Cobleskill on Sunday and Monday.
Colin Marshall had two hits and Cam Rendell knocked in two runs as the Eagles took the first game on Sunday 9-3. Chris Lusignan earned the win on the mound allowing two runs on three hits with four walks and five strikeouts in 5.2 innings. Hunter Curtis (Ellsworth) provided a RBI sacrifice fly and John Hanlon knocked in a run with a single, as Husson dropped game two by a score of 3-2. Jacob Love (Messalonskee) took the defeat on the hill. Noah Hurd (Mt. View) pitched 2.0 scoreless innings giving up three hits and striking out two.
On Monday, the Fighting Tigers won the doubleheader opener 10-4. Curtis had a solo homer and two RBI for the Eagles in the loss. Matt Holmes (Bangor) added two hits and one RBI. Avery Lawrence (Deering) was smacked around hard in the pitching defeat giving up five earned runs on 10 hits in just 2.0 innings. Rendell and Henry Lausier (Thornton Acadamy) had two hits each in game two, as Husson pulled away with five runs in the seventh inning to salvage the series split with a 7-1 victory. Lausier had two RBI, as did Liam Kelley as he added a two-run homerun. Jack Karlonas (Gorham) won on the hill allowing one run on two hits with four walks and four strikeouts in 5.0 innings. The Eagles (3-9, 2-2 North Atlantic Conference) will play at home for the first time this season when they open a four game series on Friday with a NAC doubleheader against Lesley University at the Winkin Complex in Bangor beginning at 4:30 p.m.
