The Husson baseball team opened their 2026 home schedule on Friday evening by sweeping a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader over Lesley University at the Winkin Complex in Bangor.
In game 1 (9 innings)- The Eagles scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning to pull back ahead to stay in a 7-4 win. Hunter Curtis (Ellsworth) provided that difference in that frame with a two-run game winning double. Yates Emerson (Bangor) powered the offense with four hits and three RBI. Freshman Max Hopkins (Hermon) improved to 2-0 picking up the pitching win in relief allowing one run on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts in 3.0 innings. Noah Hurd (Mt. View) recorded his first save of the year with 2.0 scoreless innings.
In game 2 (7 innings)- Matt Holmes (Bangor) snapped a 1-1 tie with a two-run single in the fifth as the Eagles completed the sweep 3-1. Curtis and Henry Lausier (Thornton) added two hits each, and Cam Rendell scored two runs. Jacob Love (Messalonskee) got the win on the hill giving up one run on three hits with four walks and six strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work. Ryan Garner picked up the save firing a perfect seventh with two strikeouts. Husson improves to 5-9 and 4-2 in the North Atlantic Conference and have won three in a row, while Lesley University falls to 7-12 and 4-6 in the league. The teams cap off the weekend series with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
