Brooklyn Federico (Monmouth) knocked in both runs on Saturday afternoon in game one of a North Atlantic Conference softball doubleheader in Waterville, including a game winning walk-off double in the eighth inning as Thomas College defeated the University of Maine-Presque Isle 2-1.
Gracelyn Walsh hit a solo homerun for UMPI. Lillian Noyes (Skowhegan) picked up the win in the circle in relief for Thomas. Addy Boyce (MDI) started and only allowed one run on nine hits with no walks and eight strikeouts in 7.0 innings. Abby Farone had three hits and two RBI in game two as the Terriers completed the sweep 9-5. Carlie Jarvais (Skowhegan) added three hits, while Maddy Morris (Skowhegan) and Maeve Hickok each contributed two hits and one RBI. Noyes went the distance to earn her second pitching win of the day improving to 8-7. Walsh and Zoe Stewart both had three hits for the Owls, with Walsh homering for a second time and driving in three. UMPI drops to 9-12 and 4-2 in the North Atlantic Conference. Thomas is now 14-15 and 7-1 in the league extending their win streak to six. The Terriers host #21 Husson for a NAC doubleheader on Tuesday.
