Husson baseball splits non-conference games with Bowdoin and Colby

The Husson baseball team split a pair of non-conference games on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Tuesday in Bangor- The Eagles used a seven run fourth inning in pulling away for an 11-4 win over Bowdoin. Matt Holmes (Bangor) had two hits and three RBI, while Cam Rendell and Liam Kelley each added two hits and two RBI. Jack Karlonos (Gorham) got the win on the mound with 2.0 innings of relief allowing two runs on two hits. Cal Thompson had two hits and knocked in two for the 13-17 Polar Bears.

On Wednesday in Waterville- Colby jumped out to a 6-0 lead in a 9-4 win over Husson. Myles Gythfeldt drove in three runs for the Mules, while Patrick Shake, Will Burns, and Henry Silva each had two hits. Burns and Silva had two RBI a piece. Colby won both meetings during the season over Husson as they improve to 18-11. The Eagles were held to three hits. Wes Piper (Greely) and Yates Emerson (Bangor) each had one hit and one RBI. Allen Wheaton (John Bapst) dropped to 1-2 on the mound as he allowed three earned runs while walking seven and striking out five in 4.0 innings. Husson is now 11-16 and will get back into North Atlantic Conference action this weekend when they host a four game series vs UMaine-Farmington with doubleheaders both Saturday and Sunday.
