Big game from Embiid helps the 76ers over the Celtics to extend first round playoff series

The Boston Celtics had a chance to close out their best of seven First Round NBA Playoff series on Tuesday night, but Joel Embiid led a second half rally and had a game-high 33 points to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 113-97 Game 5 win at TD Garden. Boston still leads the series 3-2 with Game 6 set for Thursday night back in Philadelphia.

Boston built a 13 point lead early in the third quarter, but the visitors rallied back and put together a big fourth quarter (9-17 FG), taking advantage of cold shooting by the C’s (3-22 FG). Tyrese Maxey added 25 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists for the Sixers. Jayson Tatum led the way in the loss with 24 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Jaylen Brown contributed 22 points and five rebounds.
