At Amherst, Massachusetts- Jeb Burkhart drove in the game winner with a single in the 10th inning as #4 seed Colby upset #1 Amherst 3-2. Tony Silva had three hits for the Mules, while Patrick Shrake and Corey Aubochon had two each. Silva and Shrake drove in the other runs with one RBI a piece. Kyle Bourque (3-1) earned the win in relief with a solid 5.0 innings allowing no runs on three hits. The Mules have a 1-0 lead in the best of three series with Game 2 set for Saturday at 11 a.m. Game 3 (if necessary) would be played 30 minutes after Game 2.
At Middlebury, Vermont- #3 seed Bowdoin could not hold an 11-1 fifth inning lead, as #2 Middlebury came all the way back to win it on a walk-off in the ninth on a three-run homerun 14-11. Will Bordes had four hits, Fin Cahill had three, while Will Logue, Liam Foley, and Wim Nook had two a piece in the defeat. Cahill and Foley each drove in three, while Logue knocked in two including a solo homerun. The Panthers scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to get back into the game, and then put up four in their last at bat including the game winning walk-off three-run homer from Anthony Pellagrini. The Polar Bears will try to bounce back and keep their season alive in Game 2 of the best of three on Saturday at 11 a.m. Game 3 (if necessary) would be played 30 minutes after Game 2.
