Husson men’s lacrosse wins first ever conference championship

Husson University men’s lacrosse won their first ever conference championship over the weekend in Castine.

The #2 seeded Eagles topped SUNY Delhi 19-13 in the semifinals on Saturday. Dominic Hollenkamp had the eventual game winner putting Husson ahead to stay with a goal early in the third quarter. Kiernan Field led the way with six goals and five assists (11 points), while Hollenkamp had seven points with five goals and two assists. Odin Burk made eight saves in net.

Hollenkamp capped off his impressive weekend for Husson with seven goals on Sunday in the championship game win over #1 Maine Maritime Academy 16-12. Gage Robinson (Kents Hill) had the eventual game winner halfway through the third. Field had three more goals and four assists. On the season he has totaled 63 goals and 31 assists for 94 points in just 16 games. Burk would stop 13 shots. Ryan Parent (Messalonskee) had five goals and an assist in the loss for the Mariners (10-6). Maine Maritime was looking to defend their NAC Title, and had beaten the Eagles in the regular season 16-7 and in last year’s semifinals 28-12. Husson (12-4) will be headed to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in program history. The pairings and schedule will be announced on Sunday night, May 3rd at 9 p.m.
