Maine baseball beats Merrimack; to host Albany in regular season finales this week

Jack Quigley had three RBI, while Albert De La Rosa, Chris Bear, Aidan Bardi, and Drew Reynolds knocked in two each on Tuesday afternoon as Maine baseball beat Merrimack College 14-4 in eight innings in non-conference play at Mahaney Diamond in Orono.

Juju Stevens scored three runs, while Hunter St. Denis, Brody Rasmussen, and De La Rosa came across to score twice. The hosts had eight hits in the game, and took advantage of six errors by the Warriors. Four pitchers saw time on the mound, with Jack Donlin (2-0) getting the win giving up one run on no hits with two walks and four strikeouts over 1.2 innings. The pitching staff struckout 18 Merrimack batters, a season-high. Maine (18-30) will take their 11-10 America East record into the final games of the regular season this Thursday-Saturday at home vs Albany. The Black Bears will likely need to sweep the three contests and get a little help to have a chance at finishing second in the standings, and avoid having to play a single elimination first round game in the America East Tournament next week which is being held at Binghamton.
