Bowdoin softball drops regional opener to Moravian University

Moravian University scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning on Thursday, and defeated Bowdoin College 6-2 in an opening round NCAA Division III Softball Regional Tournament game in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Kyra Holtje and Sarah DeStefano had two RBI each for the Greyhounds (33-10), who are hosting the regional and will move on to the winner’s bracket to face #21 Westfield State University (Massachusetts) on Friday. Penelope Fong-Picariello and Ellie Sullivan (Brunswick) had the runs knocked in for the Polar Bears. Sammie Wright had two hits. Bowdoin (27-10) will play an elimination game against Cortland (NY) on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
