Troy Carpenter and Albert De La Rosa each had three RBI, and Maine hit four homeruns on Thursday afternoon in a 12-1 America East baseball win over Albany at Mahaney Diamond in Orono in seven innings due to the mercy rule.
The Black Bears pulled away by putting up nine runs combined over the fifth and sixth innings, and held the Great Danes to just two hits behind a seven inning complete game from Jason Krieger. Krieger (3-6) allowed just one run on those two hits with no walks and six strikeouts. Quinn Murphy had three hits, and Juju Stevens had two. Stevens and Hunter St. Denis both scored three runs. Murphy and Stevens both hit solo homers, while Nic Pepe and De La Rosa hit two-run shots. Tre Mariano had both hits including a solo homerun for Albany (15-31, 9-13 America East). Maine is now 19-30 and 12-10 in the league, and the teams will play the middle contest of the three game series on Friday at 3 p.m.
