BANGOR- On Senior Night on Monday, Emma Tripp tossed a one-hit complete game shutout and Bangor plated the only run of the game in the sixth inning in a 1-0 Class A softball win over Brewer.
Both Tripp and Witches starter Sara Young pitched fantastic. In the first 5 1/2 innings there was only three different occasions that one of the teams had a runner reach as far as second base. The Rams did that for the second time on the evening in the bottom of the sixth inning to produce the only run of the contest. With two outs, Tripp singled to rightfield and Brewer then walked Abby Folsom intentionally. Senior Annabelle Pierce then came up to bat in her final home game, and would loop a single into right that scored Tripp for the game winner. Young suffered the loss in the circle for the Witches (8-8), allowing one run on five hits with two walks and seven strikeouts in what was also a complete game effort. Tripp had two hits for Bangor, and in the circle didn’t walk anyone and struck out five. The Rams (7-8) play at Camden Hills on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the regular season finale, with the winner securing the final postseason spot in Class A North.
