NYA scored 10 runs in the first inning and never looked back in a 14-4 Class D softball state championship win over Penobscot Valley High School (PVHS) on Saturday afternoon at Saint Joseph’s College in Standish.
Lily Fortin had two hits, two runs, and two RBI for the Panthers. Reese Weaver, Jordan Nash, and Cami Casserly also had two hits each. Fortin got the win in the circle. The sophomore allowed four runs on seven hits and four walks, while striking out nine. It is the third title in the last four seasons for NYA.
Lauren Veino had two hits and two RBI to lead the Howlers offense. Paxtyn King also had two hits.
