Lincoln Lumber and the Post 8 Downeast Captains split a Senior Legion baseball doubleheader in East Machias on Sunday afternoon.
In Game 1- Lincoln got two RBI each from Finn Knowles, Harper Jenkins, and Dillon Tozier in rolling to a 14-4 mercy ruled six inning victory. Knowles and Owen Harper had two hits each. Harper scored three runs, while Austin Jipson, Carter Osnoe, Jackson Sabattus, Jenkins, and Tozier each came across to score two runs a piece. Knowles also went the distance to get the pitching win allowing four runs on three hits with five walks and eight strikeouts. George Welch and Burren Absalom each drove in one run for Downeast Post 8.
In Game 2- Parker Cates fired a five inning three-hit shutout on the mound with no walks and 12 strikeouts, as the Captains (3-3) salvaged the split with a 9-0 win. Cates, Colby Moholland, and William Ferguson had two RBI each. Knowles, True Weatherbee, and Harper had the hits for the Lumber (2-4).
