Trenton Acadians sweep a doubleheader over Fairfield PAL in Junior Legion baseball action

In a battle for second place in the Junior Legion baseball standings on Wednesday evening, the Trenton Acadians would sweep a doubleheader over Fairfield PAL at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor.

In game one- Trenton got the 7-6 walk-off win when Spencer Young stole third base, and came across to score on an error on the same play. The Acadians trailed 6-5 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, and had tied it earlier in the frame on a Coleman Welch RBI single. Welch would lead the way in the victory with two hits and two RBI. Spencer Young scored twice, and would also go the distance on the mound to get the win allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits with three walks and 15 strikeouts. Ben Thomas had two hits, one RBI, and scored three runs for Fairfield PAL.

In game two- Charlie Sullivan had three hits (RBI triple, RBI single, inside the park three-run homerun) and five RBI to lead Trenton (11-3) to the sweep 17-4 in five innings. Sullivan also scored twice, while Spencer Young added three hits, four RBI, and would score three times. Brayden Pooler and Wyatt Young contributed two hits each. Wyatt Young drove in two, and Pooler chipped in one RBI. Welch earned the win on the hill giving up no runs on one hit with three walks and five strikeouts in 2.1 innings. Kayleb Gerrow and Brayden Hebert each had one hit and one RBI for Fairfield PAL (9-5).
