The Dunkin Comrades became the fourth and final team to advance the Senior Legion Baseball State Tournament on Thursday night, exploding for seven runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Post 8 Downeast Captains 9-2 in a pre-qualifier elimination game played at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor.
Ian Boudreau was part of the game winning play for the Comrades in that seven run sixth inning, as he attempted to sacrifice but instead would reach on an error that also scored Blake Littlefield to snap a 2-2 tie. Jonas Gilley had two RBI to help spark the offense. Gavin Glanville-True and Aiden Oullette each added two hits, with Oullette adding a RBI and a stolen base. Glanville-True scored two runs. Littlefield was lights out in relief to pick up the pitching win, as he spun a perfect two innings striking out all six batters he faced (five swinging). Tim Shimabukuro had three hits in the loss for the Downeast Captains, while Colby Moholland had one hit and one RBI. They end their season with a record of 9-12. The Dunkin Comrades (14-7) join the GSM Senior Riders, the Trenton Acadians, and Oxford Hills in the double elimination state tourney that begins on Monday at Mansfield Stadium.
