Sanford Mariners drop Game 2 of semifinal playoff series, forcing a decisive Game 3

The Sanford Mainers lost Game 2 of their New England Collegiate Baseball League second round playoff series at Muzzy Field in Connecticut Thursday night to the Bristol Blues 11-6. Sanford and Bristol will play a decisive Game 3 at Goodall Park on Friday night, with the winner moving on to the league championship series.

After a 17-2 loss in Game 1 in Sanford on Wednesday, the Blues scored the first nine runs of the night and held on to force the decisive game back in Maine. Brian Connolly (Brunswick, ME and the University of Rhode Island) led the Mainers with three hits and one RBI, while four others added one RBI each. Michael Bradshaw (Merrimack College) was roughed up on the mound in taking the loss allowing five earned runs on nine hits in just 1.1 innings. First pitch for Game 3 at Goodall Park on Friday is at 6:35 p.m., and can be streamed live on NECBL+ (subscription service).
