At Boucher Field in Bangor- Rohane Brown and Javel Clarke both scored in the first half, as the UMaine-Fort Kent men’s soccer team stayed unbeaten (4-0-2) with a 3-1 victory over Husson. Michael German added a penalty kick goal for the Bengals and he also had an assist. Boliver Owusu made two stops in net. Santiago Jimenez had the goal for the Eagles (0-1-1), while Liam Mason (Greenville) made one save. Husson plays at home again next Saturday when they host nationally ranked #7 Wheaton College (Massachusetts) at 11:30 a.m.
At St. Joseph’s Athletic Complex in Standish- Emma Nicholson scored a game winner in the second half (64th minute), as Husson women’s soccer opened their season with a 3-0 victory over Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. Sophomore Thea Gerfen scored her first two collegiate goals on penalty kicks in the 66th and 75th minute to provide some breathing room. Gabriella Smith made two saves for the shutout in net. The Eagles play their home opener on Sunday when they battle the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse at 11 a.m.
