The University of Maine evened their early season record on Sunday with a 1-0 overtime win over Davidson College in non-conference action at the Maine Field Hockey Complex in Orono.
The Black Bears outshot the Wildcats (2-3) 10-5 in regulation, but it took extra time to decide it. Maine had all three attempted shots in overtime and ended it when Taylor Stanford buried a rebound on a shot by Saylor Kuefler just one minute in. It was the second career collegiate goal for the senior Stanford. Total shots on goal were 6-2 Black Bears, who also had a 5-1 advantage in penalty corners. Annabel Halkes picked up her second straight shutout in the cage with two saves. Maine (2-2) returns to action next Friday when they play a neutral site game against Boston College at 12 p.m. in Lowell, Massachusetts.
