In Waterville on Tuesday evening, the Colby field hockey team opened their season in resounding fashion by defeating Husson 9-0 in non-conference action on Bill Alfond Field.
Hadley Swenson scored the game winner at the 6:46 mark of the first quarter. Bridget Everett and Christina Sweeney both had two goals and one assist in the victory, while Charlotte Michener, Alex Hood, Rose Memmolo, and Celia Zinman (Yarmouth) added one goal a piece. Liz Luong and Ginna Jacoby combined to secure the shutout in net. Ella Duchette (Brunswick) and Dominique Giroux-Paré each had four saves for Husson. The Eagles (0-3) will play their home opener on Saturday when they take on Saint Joseph’s College of Maine at 6 p.m., while the Mules will be at Tufts on Saturday afternoon at 1.
