After losing their first two games of their non-conference season, the Maine field hockey team has now won four of their last five including a 1-0 home victory over Dartmouth on Sunday afternoon in Orono.
Nicole Kowalewski had the lone goal in the Black Bears victory. It came unassisted almost six minutes into the third quarter off an original penalty corner inserted by Taylor Stanford. It was her second tally of the season. The shots were 9-9 (8-7 Maine on goal), while the hosts had a 6-1 advantage in penalty corners. Annabel Halkes made seven saves in the cage in the win. Kylie McKinley also had seven stops in the defeat for the Big Green of Dartmouth (1-4). Maine (4-3) will travel to Washington, DC and Maryland for two games this coming weekend (Friday and Sunday) against American University and Towson respectively, before returning home to open America East play next week.
