Shelby Sinclair put in the game winner at the end of the first overtime to lift Dexter field hockey to a 2-1 win over MCI on Thursday afternoon at Dexter.
Peyton Hill got the scoring started when she took a pass from her freshman classmate Emma Spizuoco and put into the back of the goal with 2:53 left in the second period.
A very intense second half was capped off by a Charlotte Peasley goal for MCI with 50 seconds left in regulation.
The teams played a back-and-forth overtime that ended on a Dexter corner, Kaitlyn Cookson took the corner and hit it to Olyvia Watson at the top. Watson hit it towards the goal towards Cookson and Sinclair, the ball went off Sinclair’s stick to give the Tigers the homecoming win.
MCI (5-4) will host Winslow on Monday. Dexter (4-2) will play at Foxcroft on Tuesday. That can be seen live on Eastern Maine Sports Media starting at 6:15 pm.
