Husson men’s and women’s soccer sweep NAC games at UMF

The Husson men’s and women’s soccer teams swept North Atlantic Conference games at UMaine-Farmington on Saturday afternoon.

In the men’s game- Cesar Soucre scored a penalty kick goal in the 12th minute to lead Husson to the 1-0 victory. The Eagles outshot UMaine-Farmington 22-6 (4-1 on goal). Parker Day made three saves in the the defeat for the Beavers (2-8-1, 1-3 NAC), while Liam Mason (Greenville) recorded his third shutout of the season by stopping the only shot he faced. Husson is now 3-3-2 and 2-0 in the NAC. They’ll play their conference home opener on Tuesday night at 6:30 vs Thomas College in Bangor.

In the women’s game- Olivia Charles scored two goals, and Husson had six different players on the scoresheet in a 6-0 win. Charles had the game winner in the 14th minute, and scored again just over two minutes later. Eilidh Irons, Hailey Tarbox (Sanford), Paige Dunn, and Madison Stewart (Hermon) also had goals. It was the first career tally by the freshman Stewart. Gabriella Smith (Biddeford) and Lauryn Smart (Hampden Academy) combined for the shutout in net. Roo Sawyer made 15 saves in the UMF loss. The Eagles (4-3-2, 2-1 in the NAC) will play a non-conference game at Plymouth State next Saturday.
