Clark MacArthur scored an overtime powerplay goal Sunday evening, leading the Ottawa Senators to a 3-2 win and a 4-2 series win over the Boston Bruins in game six of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals at TD Garden in Boston.
Boston took the lead in the first period when Drew Stafford scored on the powerplay at 18:13 to make it 1-0.
Ottawa dominated the second period. Bobby Ryan scored his fourth goal of the series on the powerplay at 3:26 to make it 1-1. The Sens took the lead at 8:32 when Kyle Turris scored his first of the postseason to give the visitors a 2-1 lead after two.
Boston fought back and evened the game when Patrice Bergeron scored at 1:57 of the third to make it 2-2. The Bruins outshot the Sens 12-3 in the third period.
In overtime, David Pastrnak took a holding penalty at 5:54, and MacArthur ended it just 36 seconds later. Ryan took an initial shot to the right of Tuuka Rask that was saved, but bounced right to MacArthur who buried the game winner, and sent Ottawa to a second round series where they will face the New York Rangers.
Both goalies were great again in game six, as Rask stopped 26 shots and Craig Anderson stopped 28 Bruins shots. Ottawa was 2-5 on the powerplay, while Boston was 1-2.
Boston finishes the season with an overall record of 46-35-7.
