Newark, New Jersey- The Boston Bruins became just the second team in NHL history to reach 3,000 regular season wins as they snapped their two game losing streak Friday night by defeating the New Jersey Devils 4-1 at the Prudential Center.
Boston (21-14-4) had lost 5 of their last 6 games but got four different goal scorers to take down the Devils and improve their road record to 12-3-2.
Center Ryan Spooner and defenseman Colin Miller each had a goal and an assist while Frank Vatrano and Jimmy Hayes also had a goal in front of goalie Jonas Gustavsson, who made 19 saves to earn the win.
Bobby Farnham scored for New Jersey (20-17-5) while Cory Schneider made 27 saves. The Devils have lost three straight and only scored two goals in that span while leading scorer Mike Cammalleri remains out of the lineup with an upper body injury.
Boston joins their rival the Montreal Canadiens as the only two teams to reach 3,000 regular season wins. Montreal has 3,283 in their history.
Boston will head to Ottawa Saturday for a matchup with the Senators at 7 p.m. while New Jersey heads to Minnesota on Sunday for an 8 p.m. game against the Wild.
