Brad Marchand scored the game winner, and three other skaters notched goals as the Boston Bruins opened their season with a 4-3 win over the Nashville Predators at TD Garden in Boston on Thursday night.
David Pastrnak scored a first period powerplay goal, and rookies Jake Debrusk and Charlie McAvoy scored the first goals of their career in the second to give the Bruins a 3-1 lead after 40 minutes.
Marchand scored with 2:53 left in the game to make it 4-1 Boston, before powerplay goals by Scott Hartnell at 18:12 and Filip Forsberg at 19:25 brought the Preds within a goal, but it wasn’t enough.
David Krejci had three assists, and Tuuka Rask made 25 saves on 28 shots. Nashville was 2-7 on the powerplay, while Boston was 1-5. Boston hosts Colorado on Monday at 1 p.m.
