Irving out for remainder of season

April 5, 2018

The playoff run for the Boston Celtics took a big hit Thursday. Per reports and first reported by ESPN NBA analyst Adrian Wojnarowski, Boston point guard Kyrie Irving will not return this season after having a knee surgery.

The Celtics were originally told that Irving would be set to return about 6-8 weeks after having the surgery, and Boston was in hopes to at least have him back in time for a possible round two matchup in the NBA playoffs. No other details are immediately available of why Irving will not return this season.

Irving has averaged 24.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.1 assists this season in 32 minutes per game for the Celtics. Boston sits in second place in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference, three games behind Toronto will just four games left.
