Craig Kimbrel records 300th career save as Red Sox rally to get by Rangers

Joe Kelly and Craig Kimbrel combined to strike out four of the final five batters to propel the Boston Red Sox to a come from behind 6-5 win over the Rangers at Texas on Saturday night.

The Red Sox battled back from 4-1 and 5-3 deficits. With the score tied at 5 in the 8th inning, Kelly came in with bases loaded and one out. Kelly (1-0) struck out the final two guys of the inning to get out of the jam.

The Red Sox broke the tie in the top of the ninth inning when Andrew Benintendi smacked a triple and came home on a sacrifice fly from Hanley Ramirez.

Kimbrel recorded his 300th career save by striking out two in the ninth. Hembree joined Kelly and Kimbrel to combine for three innings of scoreless relief. Kimbrel is the fastest pitcher as far as appearances and save opportunities to reach the 300th save milestone.

Mitch Moreland had two hits, including a two run home run. Benintendi has three hits, two runs scored, and two RBI. J.D. Martinez had two hits.

Chris Sale will be on the mound for the final game of the four game series on Sunday afternoon at 3:05 PM.
