Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 256 past athlete of the week winners.
This week, we had five Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Leine McKechnie earned her fourth straight athlete of the week honor. She only allowed two hits in 17 innings. McKechnie is the first student/athlete to be named athlete of the week four consecutive weeks. She joins Kolleen Bouchard (19) from Houlton, Justin Thompson (9) from Schenck, Bryce Gilbert (9) from PCHS, and Taylor Schildroth (9) from George Stevens as nine time AOW winners.

Leine Mckechnie- PVHS- softball- pitched a one hitter with 12 strikeouts and had three hits, including a homer in 6-0 win over Stearns. Pitched 3 no hit innings with seven strikeouts and went 3-3, including a double and three RBI in 23-0 win over Bangor Christian. Pitched a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts and hit a single with two RBI in 10-1 win over Searsport.

Mackenzie Beaudry- Foxcroft- softball- pitched a three bitter with 10 strikeouts and had two hits in 6-2 win over Dexter. Pitched a two hitter with 14 strikeouts in 14-1 win over PCHS.
Other nominations
Libby Hewes – Brewer- softball- had four hits and was the winning pitcher in 13-5 win over Hermon.
Katelyn Saunders- Bucksport- softball- pitched a four hitter with six strikeouts in 10-0 win over Elllsworth.
Kortney Mckechnie- PVHS – softball- had three hits including a double, homer, and four RBI in 23-0 win over Bangor Christian.
