Evan Andrews pitched a complete game three hitter to lead the Brewer Witches to a 7-3 win over Nokomis in the regular season finale at Brewer on Tuesday night. Andrews didn’t issue a walk and struck out eight on 83 pitches (59 strikes)
The Witches scored three in the first inning and one in the second and third inning to take a 5-0 lead. Nokomis cut the deficit to 5-3 in the top of the sixth inning. Brewer responded with two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth. Brewer finishes the regular season with a 11-5 record. It appears they will finish second in the final Maine Principals’ Association class B standings. If they finish second they will host a quarterfinal game on June 7th. If they fall to third they will host s prelim game on June 5th.
Levi Williamson and Kyle Goodrich powered the Witches offense with two hits each. Andrew Kiley hit a triple, scored two runs and had two RBI.
Josh Emery had one hit and two RBI to lead the Warriors. Josh Perry allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits, five walks, and five strikeouts in four innings. Cody Marquis allowed two runs in two innings. Nokomis finishes the regular season with a 10-6 record. The Warriors will finish eighth and host a prelim game on June 5th.
