Herrick and Grant power Dexter girls to win over Bucksport

DEXTER- Avery Herrick and Peyton Grant combined for 35 points to lead the Dexter Tigers to a 58-21 win over Bucksport in a class C girls basketball game at Ed Guiski gymnasium on Monday evening.

Herrick had 11 first quarter points as the Tigers jumped out to a 16-6 lead. Grant scored 10 points in the second quarter to help the Tigers take a commanding 33-14 halftime lead.

The Dexter defense only allowed two Bucksport field goals and seven points in the second half. Herrick finished with a game high 20 points for the Tigers. She also had seven rebounds and three assists. Grant recorded 15 points (3 three pointers), four steals, and two assists. Abigail Paige had six points and six rebounds, Cheyenne Beem added five points, three steals, and two assists. Jade Wintle and Cloe Mountian had four points each. Abigail Wakefield, and Elizabeth Kinney rounded out the scoring with three and one points respectively. Kaylee Deering and Danielle Cummings each dished out three assists. Dexter (9-3) will travel to Penquis on Wednesday.

Kaylee Gray scored a team high seven points for the Bucks, Alexis Leeman added six points and six rebounds, Faith Vincent and Madison Frazier chipped in with four points each. Bucksport (1-10) will travel to Narraguagus on Friday.
