Red Sox fall in series finale at Oakland

The Boston Red Sox let a 3-0 lead slip away and fell to the Oakland Athletics 7-3 on Thursday afternoon.

Eduardo Rodriguez allowed six runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out two in 3.2 innings. The Red Sox starting pitchers ERA through eight games is 9.08.

Steven Piscotty led the A’s attack by going 4-4 with five RBI. Piscotty hit a three run homer and also hit a double that landed between Jackie Bradley JR and Mookie Betts.

JD Martinez had two hits, including his third home run of the season. Andrew Benintendi has two hits. Betts reached base three times.

The Red Sox open a three game series at Arizona on Friday night in the Diamondbacks home opener. Rick Porcello takes the mound for the Red Sox in that one. The 2-6 start to the season is the worst for the Red Sox since 2011.
